Flexible Group Insurance Program - Enrollment Checklist

  • As a new hire at CAE, you have 31 days from the date of receiving the welcome email to enroll in your Flexible Group Insurance Program for coverage for the current year. You will receive a welcome email with instructions on how to access the CAEselect Tool for benefits enrollment.
  • Once enrolled, you can only make a change to your coverage for the current year if you have a Life Event. Each year, during the annual re-enrollment period you select your coverage for the upcoming year. You can modify your coverage to have more or less coverage. If you select to have less medical or dental coverage, the

    two-year participation rule will apply.

  • Before you get started, check out the CAEselect Benefits Guide and CAEselect Benefits Summary to learn more about coverage options available to you and tips to consider when making your selections. You will be able to see the price of each coverage option only once logged in the enrollment CAEselect tool. You will be able to test different scenarios before locking in your final choices.

To enroll:

    • Login to the CAE Benefits website. If this is your first visit to the CAE Benefits website, please select the option “First Time User” at the login page.
    • Click on “Group Insurance Program” to access the CAEselect Tool to start your enrollment.
    • Verify your personal information.
    • Review and update your dependent information. Ensure that you are only including

      eligible dependents 

      on your plan.

    • Complete your Wellness Certificate to receive up to $50 Wellness CAEselect Dollars.
    • Review your choices. Only you know what’s right for you and your family. Make sure your benefits choices will give you what you need for the next year.
    • Allocate any excess CAEselect Dollars to your Health Spending Account (HSA), Personal Spending Account (PSA), CAE Group RRSP or CAE Group TFSA.
      • If you do not make a selection, any excess CAEselect Dollars will automatically be directed to your HSA.
      • To allocate to the

        CAE Group RRSP and/or CAE Group TFSA 

        you must open an account at Desjardins Insurance, otherwise the excess CAEselect Dollars will be directed to your HSA.

    • Add your beneficiary designations online for insurance purposes and update at any time as needed. Once you make your beneficiary designations, they become effective immediately as no paper forms are required to be submitted. Signing into the Group Insurance program from CAE Benefits website with your unique credentials is your new electronic signature.
    • Select “Complete Enrollment” to lock in your choices.
    • Print or email a copy of your Confirmation Statement for your records.
    • Expect 5 to 10 business days for Sun Life to create your account. You will receive a welcome email from Sun Life once it’s done.
    • Sun Life will mail your coverage card to your home address. Once your account has been created, you can also download an electronic card on mysunlife.ca or on the my Sun Life mobile app.
    • Note for future reference that policy number is 025289 and your certificate number is 2000+your CAE employee number.

That’s it! Your enrollment for your Group Insurance program is complete.

Did you know?

  • The online CAEselect Tool has your CAEselect Dollar balance and calculates the cost of your coverage choices in real-time. During enrollment, you can try different coverage options to see the impact on your CAEselect Dollar balance and if there are any payroll deductions.
  • You can opt out of health care if you are covered under another plan, such as under your spouse’s plan. This will free up CAEselect Dollars, which can be allocated to your Health Spending Account (HSA), Personal Spending Account (PSA), CAE Group RRSP or CAE Group TFSA.
  • You can update your profile information or make changes to your beneficiaries at any time.

Important for the CAE Group RRSP and TFSA enrollment!

  • To register your account, go to Desjardins Insurance website (for CAE Group RRSP and CAE Group TFSA enrollment) and click on the green “Go” button and then on “Register”.
  • You will need your group number and your Desjardins employee number (your CAE employee number + the last 3 digits of your Social Insurance Number). For your group number, refer to the top section of the CAE benefits website for additional information
